Most of the drinkers consider them self as reasonable drinkers although there are heavy drinkers. Actually they just don’t want to believe the very fact that they’re heavy drinker’s.

How do you find out if you/friend an Alcoholic?
The answer is simple and straight forward. If you are an Alcoholic (heavy drinker) then it will start to affect your life.
This can be easily identified, The following symptoms will be present in an alcoholic
- considerable amounts of time put in alcohol-related activities
- performing poorly at workplace or delay in workplace
- Fight with friends and family.
- Detained for driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Health related problems like Depression, Irritability, Loss of appetite,Headache.
If you have any of the above problem you could consider your self as an Alcoholic. And you should consider stopping your intake.
How Do i find out if I am a moderate drinker?
The answer is actually easy , It will not affect your daily living activities. it is that simple
It will not affect your job, your relationships with kid and your wife, will not affect your health , your studies etc ..

This reminds me of my friend who quite drinking years back , He was an Alcoholic, He lost his job and was at the verge of divorce when he finally decide to quiet drinking(I hope that you are presently not in this stage) He was totally broke he was upset he want to quite alcohol but he can’t , I remember him saying to me that he was not having enough will power to quite drinking . The secret is actually there is no secret. My friend who used to drink alcohol gets up in the morning and took a firm decision not to take alcohol that day and decide that he will take the alcohol the next day (tomorrow) . So when ever he feels like taking alcohol he will remember his decision of not to take alcohol today but tomorrow he will take alcohol .so the activity continues like this each day , That is each morning he will get up and take the decision that he will not take alcohol today but tomorrow .He did this for almost a month and slowly by slowly his addiction to alcohol stopped.
So What is the psychology behind this simple exercise.
Basically you are setting a goal for yourself and it is a short term goal, since it is a short term goal you will be able to follow it. And the goal is also followed by a positive stroke which will take away the burden of doing or attaining the goal. So it will be easy to attain the goal.
If it is a long term goal such as for a 10 days I will not take alcohol. Then it will be very difficult to attain the goal since you will start seeing the number of days ahead of you and since there is no positive stroke you will find it impossible to finish the goal .
But in the case of a short term goal followed by a positive stroke. It is easy to attain the goal in your case stop drinking and there is no will power involved in this exercise
Don’t mistake me what i meant by no will power involved is that you don’t have to strain so hard to attain your goal.
There are so many other EASY steps that you could follow to stop or moderate your drinking .
1 Monitor your intake of alcohol
- How many drinks do you take each day?
- What is the frequency?
This will help to get a feed back of yourself
2 Concentrate on Other activities
- Painting
- Join a club
- Workout
- Taking a course
- Read a book
3 Do not use alcohol as a mean to deal with your problem
- To express your opinion
- To express your feelings
- To show your affection
4 Always think about your near and dear once
when ever there is a temptation to drink just think about your family your kids your wife/Husband , They need your presence as much as you need there so why wasting your precious time with something that definitely ruin your life.
